Our Story

A Message From Our CEO

Always There Home Care has come into existence for one reason, the careless and neglectful care my Dad received suffering with dementia at ninety years of age.  It was painful for me and my family to bare. Imagine, entrusting your Dad to someone’s care and all you see are providers watching TV, chatting on their cell phones as our Dad languishes in bed because the provider lacked the desire to do otherwise.  It was a devastating feeling on so many levels to see Dad lying in bed unshaven, unkempt with no interaction until we arrived. Care givers were flying out of the house.

Our Dad loved going on walks, listening to music and enjoyed singing songs surrounded by his children. Finally, after releasing five (5) care givers we found one who was willing and able to interact with Dad. After six (6) months we found someone who could provide a quality of life for Dad my brothers and sisters and I could be satisfied with so we could live our lives without feeling guilty.  Now we could visit Dad and spend quality time with him not doing chores around the house promised by the providers.

She was coachable and most importantly, wanted to learn how to best care for our Dad.  She took Dad for walks where he enjoyed talking with the neighbors.  She massaged his back and poorly circulated feet - which he loved!  Talked with him, wrote the day and date for him every morning, did his laundry, cleaned the house and made sure he was always bathed, shaved and clean.  As his disease progressed she was adapting and figuring out ways to provide him a quality of life.

It was because of this experience; of training the care giver, coaching her, teaching her to adapt and learn, along with the horrible experience of the first six (6) months that I decided to do for others what I had done for my Dad. No one should have to experience what we went through. We had just lost our Mom and now we were losing dad in pieces in front of our eyes. An intelligent, creative, inventive, loving man being reduced to a child in many ways needing proper care. He deserved the best we could provide for him.

One of my parent’s many expressions as we grew up: “what happens in these four walls stays inside these four walls.” I share this with you in the hope of preventing any needless worry and heartache, it is difficult enough to care for aging parents, if your loved ones suffer from dementia or are just aging and need some assistance living their daily lives please allow us the opportunity to assist you and your family maintain the kind of life your loved ones deserve.
